does anybody remember these from the mid-to-late 1990s? CMJ used to do them in conjunction w/Maxell, and whoever's mixtape entry won that month's contest would get a bunch of blank tapes & shit from Maxell. the winning mixtape usually had some theme that was clear but not totally obvious. like, you'd put Dinosaur Jr's "I Don't Think So," Breeders' "Drivin' on 9" & Pavement's "Father to a Sister of Thought" on one & the theme would be rock bands that do country-ish songs. i don't have any of my old magazines & am looking for playlists posted online - anybody w/me here and/or know where i can find some?
