Ayo- Any you other nerdz hear this yet?

 

I think it's probably my favorite record by the Yeah Yeah Yeahs.

 

Sure, it's not as visceral, but there are more songs I dig here than on any of their other records (unless you count Is Is). "Shame and Fortune" has been stuck in my head for two days.

Yeah, like two days ago.

I like the way the album is structured. Within the first three tracks (mostly) it establishes the whole disco aesthetic that has been promised, but it then begins to turn that atmosphere on its ear, and becomes something...pretty staggering, actually (without letting go of that central conceit). This a fairly brilliantly conceived work, with a remarkably sad undertone to it. I have to listen a bit more, but I tink I would also call it their best album.

Yeah, I like it, maybe not as much as FTT, but it's still a damn good record. My opinion could very well change regarding this, however. I need to give it a few more listens. Definitely better than their "Is" ep and "Bones".
