The Grey Area

9PM set for The Grey Area
The Grey Area is a two-man duo comprising singer/guitarist Jason Steinhauer and drummer T.J. Hailing from New York, they infuse a raw blues-rock sound with seriously catchy vamping, producing a full sound from exclusively two instruments. Steinhauer's soft, American voice and intricate melodies introduces a sing-songwriter sensibility into a sound influenced by the likes of Led Zeppelin, The White Stripes and The Black Keys. Both Steinhauer and T.J. arrived in the D.C. area fresh off New York based projects, and formed The Grey Area around a common love of driving rhythms, unconventional song structure, and riffs, riffs, riffs. The Grey Area's debut album arrives later this year; but you'll want to see them live before then.

bartholomew

"Soulful, dynamic melodies, strong energy... a moody blend of folk, country, and rock... a catchy, distinct sound." (The Deli Magazine)

bartholomew's sound is dream rock.

"Music that comes from the naked heart; imagery, in lyric and tone; a surfer that caught the wave, cartoon cowboys on acid, a neon skyline, 4:45 AM on a concrete rooftop; keep an eye on the stars and dream."

bartholomew expanded on the solo work of singer-songwriter-guitarist Bill Bartholomew by recommendation of steel guitarist Kim Deschamps (Cowboy Junkies, Blue Rodeo, Charlie Robison). Deschamps introduced Bartholomew to guitarist Dave Klym (Mike Plume Band, The Populars) and drummer Keith Robinson (Charlie Robison, Marcia Ball) who became collaborators with longtime bassist John Phipps.

bartholomew is gaining momentum in the burgeoning Brooklyn DIY scene, on the heels of their two 2010 releases, Maple and Magnolia EP and Dream Rock EP. They are constantly recording in their Bushwick, Brooklyn studio, and are due to release another EP this autumn.

BR and Timebomb

BR is an artist from Brooklyn with a versatile and innovative style of hip-hop music. He has performed and recorded with his band Timebomb in and out of New York City for the last five years. BR and Timebomb combine intense lyrics with dynamic sounds to make original live hip-hop that works. Timebomb features Jibrail Nor on drums, Shanelle Jenkins on trumpet, Stacy Beatty Jr. on bass, Olivia Martinez on violin and Karnage on guitar.
