It's just funny how Keitel went full frontal pre-Forgetting Sarah Marshall and still got passed on for the Oscar...

The Royal Tenenbaums Family: Why Can’t We All Just Get Along on this Zany Road Trip called Life is a popular alt movie directed by alt director Wes Anderson. So many entry-level vibe out to that movie, thinking that their family is ‘tragically beautiful.'...

...

I think these characters have a 3some in the movie.

This is the official episode guide to the USA Network hit television seris. Monk, starring two-time Emmy Award winner Tony Shalhoub.Monk is one of the most popular series currently on television. Fans have come to enjoy the antics and erstwhile efforts of obsessive-compulsive Adrian Monk, who was once a rising star with the San Francisco Police Department until the tragic murder of his wife pushed him to the brink of a breakdown. This authorized guide covers the first four extraordinary seasons and is complete with a foreword from the show's creator, Andy Breckman, as well as an afterword from the show's star.Authors Terry J. Erdmann and Paula M. Block were granted exclusive interviews, behind-the-scenes secrets, and total access to the scripts and sets to bring a comprehensive look at one of today's most brilliant defective detectives. Monk is a great show on the USA Network. Over the course of four seasons, it has built a loyal audience of fans. Every week, we tune in to see how detective AdrianMonk will use his fears and obsessive compulsive disorder to solve a murder, and what fun he'll create for us along the way. This episode guide features all the episodes from the first four seasons of the show. The books starts out discussing the origins of the show and the four-year process it took to bring the show to TV. Then they discuss the characters and actors who bring them to life each week. Each season gets its own chapter and the chapter prolog discusses a little of what was happening behind the scenes that season, such as the move from Canada to Los Angeles for filming beginning in season 2. And, of course, there are the episodes. Each episode starts with a summary of the plot, so if you don't quite remember the details, you can catch up quickly. Then the author's go into behind the scenes stuff. They talk to the writers about what inspired the idea and the cast and crew to find out any unusual challenges that filming that episode created or some funny story that happened while they were filming it. At the end of each episode, they list a favorite quote, the most unusual clue, the clue that breaks the case, and Monk's idiosyncrasy of the week. Along the way, they feature sections on such crewmembers as the writers, costumer, and composer, for example. I love behind the scenes books, and this one is great. I sat down to read a few pages and read it in an afternoon. I learned trivia about the show and what makes this show unique from others currently on the air. Everyone is more then willing to admit when something is sub-par, and I was glad to see they agree with me on what some of the worst episodes of the show are. The issue that has created the most gossip surrounding the show was Bitty Schram's sudden departure in the middle of season three. While it is discussed, the writers do their best to gloss over any potentially inflammatory issues. While this is best, the gossip lover in me wanted more dirt. Still, her departure does create a hole in the book. The authors were given this assignment just as she was leaving the show, so they never had a chance to interview her for their book. Monk is a fast, fun read focused on one of the best TV shows currently on TV. I hope the show and the book are successful enough to merit a volume two in a few years. Doctor Who season 5 sets itself apart from the first four seasons by creating a completely new plot. There's a crack running through all of time and space that's erasing all of existence. TheDoctor meets new companion Amy Pond who's connected to this rift somehow and it keeps popping up wherever they go. The episodes seem like standard Dr. Who fare (somethings wrong in some part of space/time, they investigate, nothing's as it seems, Doctor pulls some idea out of no-where nd saves the day with a speech in the end). That is until a few episodes in and we get the two-parter 'Time of Angels'/'Flesh in Stone'. These two episodes bring a level of suspense rarely seen in television and make up for the more formula episodes in the season (though the finale, which is also a two-parter manages to tie in the more mundane episodes into the overall plot). To put it simply, the story of this season is not to be missed! As I said before I was hesitant about Matt Smith as the Doctor. The promo-shots with him in the bow-tie made me want to gag and his youthful appearance made me afraid he was going to ruin a good mature character. Of course I was wrong; Smith's Doctor is more naive but he's got a charm that's completely his own and I'll admit he's my favorite incarnation of he Doctor to date, bow-tie and all! Just as good (or maybe better) is actress Karen Gillan as companion Amy Pond. While Amy's very taken with the Doctor at first she's not afraid to talk back to him and throw his self-righteousness back in his face! Their relationship in the season is really something to see! While of Doctor Who is very different than previous series, it's no less impressive (and in my opinion MORE impressive). It strikes the perfect feeling of familarity and uniquenes. I like the fact that not everyone follow's the Doctor based on his high-morals and I love a human companion who's not afraid to question him. This season's a winner and in my opinion the best show that's aired in 2010! I actually only started watching Doctor Who at the beginning of this last season (I know, fail), and was so impressed by the sheer awesomeness that I went back and watched the other 4 seasons of the new Doctor Who. I suppose that might make me a little biased since Matt Smith is "my" Doctor and I started with Moffat being the lead writer. I adored the past seasons too (although I'm surprised even the Complete Specials has a higher rating than this, considering that it kind of sucked. In my opinion.) but I'm a little shocked by how many people disliked the new series and Matt Smith. I think people in general just don't like change...but that's just me. I loved it. So. ...Buy it! I didn't have HBO whenThe Sopranos came out in 1999, and so I am delighted that it is now on a set of DVD discs. I'm a big fan of books and movies about the Mafia and so I was prepared to love it. I must say that my expectations were all met, and more. There is nothing like being able to watch the series, in its entirety, all at once, at my own pace. And there is nothing like watching several video interviews and behind the scenes featurettes on the discs to enhance the viewing experience with background information. This series has won many awards. I can understand why. James Gandofini stars as Tony Sopranos, a very human individual, who just happens to be a gangster. He's living in modern times though, and so he's plagued with depression and goes to a therapist, played by Lorraine Bracco. Tony's domestic scenes, which include his wife, Edie Falco, his daughter, Jamie-Lyn Sigler, his son, Robert Iler, and - especially his mother, Nancy Marchand, are all unique and slightly off-center examples of brilliant writing and editing. Add to this his criminal activities and his violent temper, and there's a mix that fascinates me completely. One of the delights of the series is that I can't quite figure what will happen next. I'm constantly on edge as I watch the story unfold, and there are always surprises. I like the humor and the irreverence. And best of all I like the fact that each episode is commercial free and a complete movie in itself. I love it when the scenes move back and forth between the actual crime stuff and his family life. And I love the humanity that Tony exhibits. In a way he is "everyman" as he struggles with decisions and hard choices in his life. And yet, he is larger than life, and a bit of a hero to our culture. Couple this with really fine acting and an excellent script, and a winner emerges. I'm not into dream sequences and these were the only parts that dragged down the action, but there were only a very few throughout all the episodes. However, now that I look back on it, I'm glad they were there, because even though I was annoyed with them at the time, I can now see how they really helped develop the characters. These on-target characterizations are what drive the series and make it soar above its nearest competitors. The Sopranos on DVD is a winner in every sense of the world. And it is not only recommended for aficionados of the gangster genre. It gets my highest recommended for everyone. On December 22, 2000, I recived the Sopranos First Season on DVD. It was a Birthday/Holiday gift form my girlfriend of 5 years. Over the course of the next week and a half, if there was any doubt of my whereabouts, it was a safe bet I was watching the next episonde. I am a 23 year old actor. My VHS collection numbers 350. My DVD collection a mere 20, however the Sopranos box set delivered more hours of riveting enjoyment than anything has in a long time. The show is, in my opinion a perfect blend of satire, drama, social comentary and fantastic story telling. Every person I introduce to the Sopranos is throughly impressed with all aspects of the series. On a personal note, I think James Gandolfini has finally given us something that Robert DeNiro and Al Pacino have long strived to achive. Gandolfini brings a familiarity to this roll that is one of the key elements to the show's success. He has created a character that is not out of reach for the veiwing audience. Edie Falco and Nancie Marchand are also invaluable components to the creation of the overall feeling of accesability. While we may not all know what it is to have an AK-47 within arms reach, we do know what it is to have a nagging mother and a confused and judgmental spouse. The icing on the cake of this series is its supporting cast, the boys at the club and kids at home create an atmosphere that is simply tantilizing to the veiwing audience. I recomend this set to mafia fans and house wives alike. Get it for the gangster in you, after all...a hit is a hit. "It will shake the very core of their relationship," says executive producer Alan Ball of the shocking incident that wounds the couple in Season 3. "Bill and Sookie's love for each other is authentic and they want to make it work. But it might get harder and harder." True Blood DVD 1-2 Sookie's love life is a huge reason viewers are sucking up True Blood by the gallon. The Emmy-nominated drama, based on the best-selling book series by Charlaine Harris, is HBO's biggest hit since The Sopranos. Set in backwater Bon Temps, La., and surrounds, it's a Southern Gothic gumbo of hot sex, deep love and vampire politics, with enough story lines to choke a gator. But underneath it all is the battle for Sookie's heart that's been raging since Season 1. Fans have chosen sides, and it's on for Team Bill versus Team Eric (unofficial team T-shirts are available online), with new rival Alcide now running as a dark horse, er, wolf. True Blood DVD 1-2 Team Bill diehards held their breath in the Season 2 finale when Bill was kidnapped just after proposing to Sookie. This season kicked off with Bill being hauled away by werewolves working for vampire king of Mississippi Russell Edgington (Denis O'Hare). Sookie's search for her intended landed her in Russell's clutches, too, and she might have died along the way if not for Alcide's protection. Add to that the conniving Eric; Bill's maker and ex, Lorena (Mariana Kleveno), who's said she'd like to wear Sookie's rib cage as a hat; the dangerous vampire queen Sophie-Anne (Evan Rachel Wood); and you've got one bloody mess. Still, Moyer (Paquin's real-life fiancé) believes that, when it comes to true love, all the mayhem is manageable. "I can't get into slinging matches about who's better for Sookie because it's just ridiculous," he laughs. "Bill is for Sookie, the love of her life." True Blood DVD 1-2 Moyer makes a good case for why on a moonless night in an outdoor scene that will air in the Aug. 8 episode. We won't reveal too much, but we will say he's ready to fight Russell, who has put Bill's progeny, teenage vamp Jessica (Deborah Ann Woll), in danger. Bill's all passion and protectiveness, and definitely someone you want in your corner — or any room of the house. Score one for Team Bill. True Blood DVD 1-2 But during the escape from Russell's mansion that eventually leads to this moment, Moyer hints, "Sookie does something we haven't seen her do yet for Bill. It being the roller-coaster ride that their relationship is, something happens immediately that makes things go awry." Figured The Expendables would be the #1 movie last week, but didn't think Scott Pilgrim would only earn $10 million.

Any of you guys see The Expendables? Is it entertaining at least?

...

Given such a matchup, you might be forgiven for thinking that 64-year-old Sylvester Stallone and "The Expendables" had no chance in competing with Michael Cera's "Scott Pilgrim vs. the World" at the box office. But Sly dominated, even outperforming early estimates, pulling in $35 million. Meanwhile, "Scott Pilgrim," which was tracking poorly to begin with, managed only a disappointing $10.5 million.

So what happened? Why did "Expendables" kill it, while "Scott Pilgrim" couldn't expand its audience from the niche fans who went all foamy-at-the-mouth during the flick's Comic-Con panel?

"Lionsgate is the best in the business at targeting adult men with ultra-violent fare," said Gitesh Pandya of Box Office Guru. " 'Expendables' worked well at the box office because it offered a value-pack of stars and had great marketing. Stallone by himself doesn't sell, but backed by an army of familiar faces, it became a can't-miss action film for many people. The misleading push of how Stallone, [Arnold] Schwarzenegger, and [Bruce] Willis were doing their first action movie together probably fooled a few folks into buying tickets too."
