Ayo dorkz-

Any y'all go see Where the Wild Things Are? I thought it was pretty good--it was really moody, and was really about our feelings ( :(, obviously). It was like a Spike Jonze movie through and through--I imagine the perfect audience for this is shlubby 35-year-olds who haven't gotten over their parents divorce when they were 6.

It was definitely not for kids though, which may fail it's presumed audience. I took my 9-year-old cousin because the reviews said it's like a trip into a 9-year-old's psyche, but that has to be wrong, because my cousin totes hated it. Here's our discussion after it was over:

Me: Well, what'd did you think?

Her: I hated it.

Me: You hated it?

Her: Yeah.

Me: I liked it.

Her: You're stupid.

Me: Why am I stupid?

Her: Because nothing happened! It sucked.

Me: Well...

Her: Buy me some popcorn.

Andross, is this the same cousin that bullies you for not taking good care of her Nintendogs?

Also, to anyone else reading this thread, I hope you clicked on the ads for Where the Wild Things Are. I'm sick of eating ramen.

Looks like the film had a pretty good weekend at the box office. I want to see it this week, but it might be tough since it's CMJ week.

After a long and troubled production, Warner Bros.’ Where the Wild Things Are found its supper waiting, and it was hot to the tune of $32.5 million, according to early estimates by Hollywood.com Box Office. The movie was easily the best debut for acclaimed director Spike Jonze, whose two previous films, Being John Malkovich and Adaptation, ended their domestic runs at $22.9 million and $22.5 million, respectively. All eyes will be watching to see how much Wild Things, with its reported $80 million budget, drops next weekend. The film earned a relatively solid “B+” grade from CinemaScore moviegoers, but some families may be staying away as the movie jumped only 2 percent from Friday to Saturday.

The violent thriller Law Abiding Citizen, starring Jamie Foxx and Gerard Butler, attracted an

Yeah it is. I should have expected that, but I was hoping she'd like it.

She does. She once acted incredulous that he had a girlfriend.

Her: Him? He has a girlfriend?

Me: Yeah.

Her: Matt?

Me: yeah, my friend matt.

Her: No he doesn't.

I thought it was a pretty choppy film. Nothing really fit together quite right, with regard to both visuals and narrative. I also thought the "divorce issues playing out inside young max's head" was a bit too transparent.

But it wasn't a bad film overall, just flawed.
