So I saw the new Coen Brothers movie at the Toronto Film Festival last night, and it was fucking amazing...
It asks a lot of philosophical questions while being their most hilarious effort since Lebowski...
Quite worth the viewing and I'd recommend ppl look into the ltd release when it comes out in October..

Anyone who hasn't seen this yet, do so. Probably my favourite film of 2009 (Hurt Locker and Moon are close, but the Coen brothers killed this one)

Definitely on my list. I didn't see Moon either, and I really want to.

I'm waiting for this on Netflix (it's out in February). I think I might just buy Moon, sight unseen, when it comes out next week. As it's been described to me, it sounds like it'll be the tits. I also have the Hurt Locker queued up on my NF for next week.
As a side bar, I saw Avatar yesterday, and it sucked. It's Dances With Wolves in Space in 3D. I also saw Up in the Air, which wasn't as great as all the reviews said it was. It was very solid, but not fantastic. It's definitely better than Reitman's two other movies though. |

movie is terrible. worst by the coens by far. even worse than 'burn after reading' if you can imagine that. moon was also a huge bore. hurt locker was one of the few decent movies this year. also, daba is lame.

Needless to say, I disagree. The Coens made a movie that was funny while simultaneously refuting chaos theory as the inexplicable will of 'hashem.' And I thought Stuhlbarg did an outlandishly good job as the protagonist.
Re. Moon I could see how someone may find it somewhat dull, but the issue of human emotions in a clone was something I hadn't seen depicted in film before..
That being said, the shit is subjective so I could be wrong... |
