Count on the Scandinavians to one-up a thoroughly trodden terrain like electronic pop music. And make it seem so effortless. Nanna Øland Fabricius was a ballet dancer before a back injury put her on the perma-DL and prompted the career switch. Without any formal music training, she self-released her debut album Fauna. Well, maybe "self-released" is a bit of an exaggeration. Working with esteemed artists, ranging from composer Davide Rossi (Brian Eno, The Verve, Coldplay) to artist Eske Kath, she quickly built a following and secured a deal with Epic Records. She is scheduled to release a follow-up album in 2010.
