Beni Single was an electronic music DJ and producer. Not to be confused with the similarly mononymous J-Pop star Beni (Daniels), Single made his name in the club scene of his native Australia. He performed as DJ Damage in the collective Bang Gang DJs during the '00s. In the mid-00s he collaborated wth Joel Dickson (Cut Copy) as Riot In Belgium. The duo scored with the 2005 stomper "The Acid Never Lies" and the 2006 nu-electro staple "La Musique." The group also remixed an eclectic range of peers, including Proxy, Chromeo, Headman, Surkin, Alex Gopher, Yelle and Kim. The duo went their separate ways by 2008. By 2009 Single had secured releases through the Kitsune label.
By 2010 he was signed to the Modular label and had shifted his attention towards less dance-specific electronic music. The single "Maximus" reflected this new turn -- as did his 44-minute "December Stadium Mix," released in December 2010. He was scheduled to release his debut full-length in 2011, entitled It's a Bubble. In an interview with thiswayin, Beni described the album as "a cross between disco and old house with lots of guest vocals like Sam Sparrow." Other scheduled guests Nomi of Hercules and Love Affair, Matty Safer (formerly of the Rapture), and others.
